Isabel's clients are typically small- to mid-sized registered investment advisers and Non-U.S. advisers wishing to register with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Isabel regularly advises clients on issues related to compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933, and the Investment Company Act of 1940. Isabel also maintains a specialized practice in INTERPOL data correction and international reputation matters. She began her work in this field as a law clerk to attorney Michelle Estlund in Coral Gables, Florida, one of the nation´s leading practitioners in Red Notice defense. Isabel continues to collaborate with Ms. Estlund by conducting legal research and drafting Red Notice Removal Requests. In this area of her practice, Isabel routinely reviews extensive Spanish-language source materials, integrating those materials into briefs and factual records with precision. Her fluency in Spanish allows her to analyze cross-border documents, communications, and reports that are essential to building a comprehensive and persuasive submission.
Before founding ALCANTARA LAW, LLC, Isabel served as a Compliance Analyst at Greenwich Advisor Compliance Solutions and as a New Accounts Representative at the Washington, D.C. office of Interactive Brokers. She previously interned at the Office of Chief Counsel for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where she assisted with legal research on federal regulatory matters.
Isabel is fluent in English and Spanish. She holds an Associates of Arts in Psychology from Northern Virginia Community College (VA, USA), a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Roberts Wesleyan College (NY, USA), a Master of Arts degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain), a Master of Arts degree in Literary and Cultural Studies of Spain and Latin America from New York University (Madrid Campus). While in law school, Isabel received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for earning the highest score in a legal persuasion course. She was also selected to participate in the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Institute in 2019.
